Would you like to lose weight so you can have a bikini body long before summer hits? Perhaps you want to get back into a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly ten years ago. Or has your doctor told you to lose weight for one reason or another?
There are as many reasons to lose weight as there are people. Would you be anxious to drop some weight if you knew the payback would include a lower risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, arthritis and lengthen you life span. I’d be willing to bet the answer is yes.
Add to this, the fact that when you lose weight you feel better and look better. You can stop wearing shapeless plus sizes and pass up on all those baggy tents. Plus your energy levels get a boost, and you can move around so much more quickly.
I think there are a lot of people out there more concerned with what they look like, than the health consequences of being overweight. This becomes apparent when they finally do try losing weight, they’ll opt for some crazy crash diet plan in an attempt to get slim quick, instead of a healthier regimen they can stick with long-term.
To me, it seems that their main concern when trying to lose weight isn’t their health. If everyone made their health their main priority we’d all be further on the success scale when it comes to weight loss.
The health ramifications of being overweight or obese make for pretty dire reading. Some of the consequences are: premature death, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, breathing problems, arthritis, reproductive complications, mobility problems, depression, discrimination.
It’s strange that even though most people are well aware of the health problems caused by excess weight, it seems to make very little difference.
It seems that nearly everyone you know would like to lose weight. The current concepts and modern society dictates that thin is in, especially for women. If you one of the many people that either wants to or needs to lose weight, you should first understand exactly what your motivations are.
