Pizza Slices Creatively Compiled

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I live in a city that many say boasts the best pizza in the world. New York is a wonderful place, and you’d be hard pressed to walk a few blocks in any commercial neighborhood without finding a pizzeria.

As a result, I’ve had the privilege of enjoying a very wide variety of slices and styles. During my time spent eating this delicious treat, I’ve come across some pretty interesting types and I’d like to share a few of them with you today.

If you appreciate creative cookery, I’m sure you’d like to try these suggestions. Made at home or ordered from a restaurant, I’m sure you’ll agree they’re a real treat.

The first specialty pizza I would recommend is the mac and cheese. Yes, it is unusual as far as pizzas go, but try it and you’ll agree with me that it tastes good, especially with breadcrumbs on top.

Another very popular slice at an one of the city’s top pizzerias is a spinach artichoke variety. This is like your typical spinach style slice, but it has artichokes and a creamy blend of cheese throughout. Many call it the best pizza slide they’ve ever had in their lives.

If, like me, you’re fond of buffalo chicken, you’ll just love it on a hot pizza crust. When you bite into a buffalo chicken slice you’ll think you’re in heaven with all of the strong flavors blending so well together.

For added flavor, have extra blue cheese on your pizza or a bowl of blue cheese dip. It can really liven up plain crust.

I hope I’ve inspired you to test some adventurous types of pizza. These three are very close to my heart and it makes me happy to know that you’re going to love them too.

Aside from food, this writer also frequently writes about the rolling utility cart in addition to the folding trolley.

One Truly Valuable Kitchen Secret

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Why does cooking create such a mess? Seriously, whatever we do and however hard we try, when we have finished creating our masterpiece the kitchen always looks like a bomb has hit it.

Surely there must be a way around this? It wasn’t like this is the past, when the wealthy had servants to take care of their every need. So every meal they enjoyed was brought to table and they never had to give a second thought as to how it got there!

If you were at the other end of the social scale and didn’t have servants it wasn’t a problem either as you couldn’t afford to cook elaborate meals so there was little, if anything to clean up.

Next time you finish a session in the kitchen have a look around you. There are dirty plates, pans, utensils and a pile of appliances which were meant to save us time, not add to it!

Kitchen mess is embarrassing; we don’t like others to see how untidy we are. If you are lucky enough to afford servants then it isn’t an issue, but the majority of us can’t, so it is.

So we still search for that magic something that will enable us to turn out lavish gastronomic creations without any of the mess. As, sadly, it simply doesn’t exist, here’s something you can try instead.

Clean as you go is now my kitchen motto. Keep a bowl of hot, soapy water and wash each piece as soon as you’ve used it. Then when you’ve finished, there will only be the last couple of things that you’ve used, so much better than a teetering pile of dirty dishes.

So in future, no more stacking up dirty dishes and leaving them until the end. Facing a pile of dirty pots and pans can be soul destroying, so make life easy for yourself and clean as you go. Now when you’ve finished whatever you have made, you can sit down and relax, not be stuck at the kitchen sink for a good hour.

The Vinyl Tablecloth is Ideal for Tables

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

I recently bought a vinyl tablecloth for my home, and I couldn\’t be happier with my purchase. I feel a bit foolish for never having bought one before, but you live and learn. I\’d like to share a few of the benefits that I\’ve found with you here.

One of my favorite things about using vinyl tablecloth fabric is the fact that I put very little effort into maintaining it. I used to have a cloth table covering, and I\’m so glad that I no longer have to worry about machine washing mine in cold water.

All in all, this is a great and effective way to protect your tabletop. Did you watch the last episode of the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm? In it, a glass of wine is sitting on a wooden table and ends up making a stain on it.

By covering a table with something as simple as vinyl, there\’s no need to worry about stains like this or using coasters whatsoever.

Another great feature of vinyl table tops is the fact that it\’s very easy to clean food or spills off the surface of them. If you have kids in the house, you\’ll likely experience spills a few times per week.

Due to the nature of vinyl, it\’s really easy to brush any liquid or food spills off the tablecloth. Not only is it easy to brush these things off, but they\’ll rarely stain once they\’ve been removed. This is the very reason that many busy restaurants choose to use vinyl coverings for their tables.

A fitted vinyl tablecloth is even more valuable in the presence of a home with kids. As you know, children may frequently tug on the surface of the table, worse yet spilling all of the food and drink that sits atop it. By getting a fitted one, this won\’t be any kind of a worry.

Lastly, you might be wondering what these cost. The good news is that you can easily find a great vinyl tablecloth for $15 or less. The low price of these makes them a no-brainer in my book.

What You Need To Know About Aquaponics Systems

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Combining elements from both fish farming, (aquaculture), and soil less farming (hydroponics), aquaponics systems aim to take the eco-benefits of both, whilst minimizing any negative aspects. With many benefits, it is a form of farming that is rapidly growing in popularity.

Aquaponics systems essentially work to cultivate plants and fish in an atmosphere that is conducive to the healthy development of both.

As with many traditional hydroponics systems; plants are grown in trays filled with gravel, whilst the fish continue to grow in regular tanks; as in aquaculture farms, and are given a diet of regular food. The water in the fish tanks is cycled through the plant trays.

And it is here that aquaponics comes into its own. Bacteria already in the gravel the plants sit in breaks down all the waste products in the fish tank water. This provides the essential nutrients to the plants, and the water, now filtered and pure, is pumped back into the fish tanks.

A beautifully simple system, it has many benefits to both the fish and the plants.

For their part, the fish are healthier and resistant to infections and disease. As a result, they are also less stressed than those in aquaculture systems. It is thought that this is because of a lack of chemicals that leech into the water.

Plants are healthier too; and return increased crops, for much the same reason.

The benefits are far greater than this alone however. The bottom line costs incurred by farmers are significantly reduced from traditional methods; with less food, less fertilizers and the like being necessary. With disease lessened, preventative and curative work is lessened too.

Aquaponics systems are a great solution to providing organic foods, but more than this; they could also be the answer to providing a lasting solution to food shortage in developing countries. They could also be a powerful way to ensuring that the increasing world population is provided for in the future; in an organic and environmentally friendly way.

Using your own handmade beading supplies can present some unique challenges, but it can also lead you to design some amazingly creative beaded! One of the best ways to make your own beaded jewelry is to make your own handcrafted beads! Here are some non-traditional things you can make your own jewelry from:

Make Beads From Dried Food: Almost everyone has tried to make popcorn strings for a Christmas tree, and the principals behind using beans or seeds at beads in jewelry is not much different. The key is to pick seeds that are durable and dependable. To string beans you’ll probably have to either use a tension mounting system of some sort or drill a hole through them. Then you will want to protect your new beads with a spray on plastic to make sure they don’t fall apart.

Paper Bead Jewelry: This fun idea dates back from the Victorian times when making beads out of paper was a popular pastime. All you do is cut out strips of paper and roll them around a toothpick. You may want to protect these as well so they don’t fray and get damaged at the first hint of moisture. You can play with different types of paper, different colors and even different shaped strips of paper when creating your beads.

If you run your own custom jewelry business, then you know how expensive beads can be. Making your own beads is a creative way to save money on your costs while still producing amazing jewelry. Since you already know how to make your own bead jewelry then you probably already possess the skills and even the tools to make plenty of cheap beads that can be turned into beautiful jewelry!
