How To Grind The Coffee Beans Using Electric Coffee Grinder ?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Pre- ground coffee can never be as good as coffee that you grind at home using a home coffee grinder. When the coffee is pre- ground and packaged, the ground coffee is exposed to air and starts oxidizing. This results in much of the wonderful coffee flavor being lost. If you are serious about a great tasting coffee brew, you definitely need to buy the coffee beans whole and grind them yourself.

An electric coffee grinder is used to grind coffee beans right before making a pot of coffee, thus insuring a fresh taste. It also allows you to select a custom grind for your machine. The finer your grind your coffee beans, the stronger your coffee will be.

There are main two types of coffee grinders available in the market today, namely the blade grinder and the blur grinder. The blade grinder has a single blade and looks and spins like a propeller.

The finest of the ground depends on how long you let it run. You may also need to shake the machine as you grind your coffee to get every bit ground up nicely. Blade grinders tend to be faster and cheaper than burr grinders.

A burr grinder smashes the beans with a grinding wheel. This can be set to repeat the same grind over and over for more consistent coffee grinding.

Using an electric coffee grinder is not at all complicated. The only thing that is to be taken care of is adequate amount of water for specific amount of coffee beans. A tablespoon ground coffee demands for about 6 ounces of water.

For a burr grinder, select your setting and turn it on. For a blade grinder, hold down the start button in ten second pulses. Shake the machine gently while holding the cap on tightly. Pulse the machine as many times as needed to get the beans ground as fine as you like.

If you are planning to have one, go for an appropriate and pertinent grinder that simply meet your daily brewing needs. For that, you can seek help from the Internet or can go for market search to scale various other options.

Troubleshooting Fluorescent Tubes With No Starters

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Fluorescent lights fixtures have evolved over the last few years. Most modern fluorescent fixtures do not use starters, so you might not find one if your fixture is less than 15 to 20 years old. The fixtures no longer require a separate starter to turn the fluorescent light bulbs or tubes on.

In absence of a starter to light up the CFL, fixing and replacing it has become very easy and if a CFL stops working, we can look for its socket or the ballast.

Fixing the CFL that has no starters are relatively easy to fix and do not require any special skills. All you need is to gather the necessary items required to repair the tube light. Phillips-head screwdriver, masking tape, pencil, replacement socket, wire strippers and replacement ballast are some of them.

Electric supply to that particular circuit on which the tube light works must be switched off, before taking up its repair and replacement. This can be done by putting the MCB installed on the panel of the house. Then, detach the tube light cover, rotate the light and remove it from its housing.

Gaining access to the wires can only be done by taking out the socket from the fixture. In order to remember the connections between each wire, better mark them with the masking tape and a pencil. Take all the wires out of the socket. Reinstate the new socket and make connections suitably. Screw the socket back in place. Also place back the socket cover.

To change burnt out ballast, we first find the clips at both ends of the fixture that keep the cover in place. We than pull the clips and ease the casing. Take the casing away and reach to the ballast.

You will find blue, red, white and black wire near the ballast. Ensure no current flowing into the light fixture. Cut the wires attached to the ballast, snipping it a few inches from where the ballast connects. Remove the nuts holding the ballast onto the light fixture. Put the new ballast where the old one used to be, screwing it back with the nut driver.

With the help of a twist wire connector, we connect the wires back to the ballast, keeping the color in mind. At times, the tube light may even be faulty. Judge them with their color. If you find them black from ends, you might need to replace it with the another one.
