I also have a better understanding of why dried fruit and veggies are so expensive. You can start with seven full trays of pears (about 8 pears), and when they’re dry end up with less than two cups! The Nesco beef jerky spice is really great and so easy to use. I use my dehydrator at least twice a month and had no problems so far. The trays are sturdy and durable. The bottom line: Feel confident purchasing this product, it does all that it claims to do at a very reasonable price. After reading the other reviews, it seemed that this would be the best one–relatively quiet but efficient at dehydrating. I would recommend this as a great starter system.
